Current News Sep 1 Its registration time again! Those signed up, last year’s membership is good until December 31, however, it is helpful to sign up now. Those who wish to compete and were not signed up, have to sign up now. The fees have gone up. Because Swim Ontario requires us to pay them each year, Masters Swimming Ontario has raised their fees to $25, consequently the club’s fee is now $30. We are hoping that one person will take responsibility for collecting fees at each pool and forward them to me. Lois Adams has agreed to do this at North York Y, I will talk to those at other pools this week. Because more people keep joining the club from Ys outside the Toronto area, we had a discussion and vote on changing the name to “Trillium Y Masters Swim Club”. The vote, with 35% participating, was almost 80% in favour and the rest didn’t care. So, we are now Trillium Y, still TYMS. We have been asked what kind of management system the club has, after some discussion, it was decided that we did not want a complex organization with Boards and Committees. We have decided our system is “Consensual Anarchy”, our motto, “Less is More”. If you think we need to do something, volunteer, you can get to do it. We have several coaches who volunteer at various Ys. Wes Musial has designed workouts for the year which are on the website, interestingly these are being followed in other parts of Canada and in other countries. We have webmaster Jake, responsible, with help for tymsclub.tripod.com. We try to have one person responsible at each Y for promoting and renewing membership, also encouraging those interested to compete. I have tried to coordinate this and also liase with the YMCA. The club was very successful last year in getting people out to many meets, we were quite often one of the largest clubs there. It is great fun for some to go to meets, try it, you might like it! We recognize that many of the people in the Y program may not be interested in competition, that’s fine. Masters is about fun, fitness, friendship and participation, we urge you to join the club, support Masters and lifelong fitness through swimming. News Find club news here. TymsTimes - our news letter
