TRILLIUM Y MASTERS SWIM CLUB

 

The Trillium Y Masters Swim Club is a Masters Swimming Ontario (MSO) registered club for adult swimmers who train at the campuses of the Greater Toronto YMCA. Although the club does not independently have coaches or pool time, club members act as volunteer coaches and assist with the promotion and organizing of the swim fit programs on several campuses. Participants in these programs are members of the YMCA. Many join the club for the personal encouragement and feedback they get from experienced coaches and fellow swimmers. They enjoy the tremendous camaraderie from swimming with a motivated group. Club members range in age from 20 to over 70 and come from all walks of life. A few are national champions, many have never been involved in competitive swimming before. All are involved for the fun, fitness and friendship they obtain. Many club members do not compete but join to support the great work the club does for the YMCA and that MSO does for swimming, health and fitness in Ontario. The original club was formed at the North York YMCA campus in 1985. There are now over sixty club members in five of the Greater Toronto campus plus outlying YMCAs. There are over two hundred swimmers in these YMCA swim fit programs. The club is managed by the board of directors.
